Ghana
Ghana unlike other African countries did not block social media or internet generally on the day of the elections. This comes despite the position by the police that if need be social media would be shut down.
The Electoral Commission (EC) and most media houses have employed the use of especially Twitter to relay information and to transmit results from across the country.
All 10 trends in Ghana as at Thursday afternoon (close to 24 hours after the polls) are election related. There are five hashtags and five political personalities trending for different reasons.
